After three years of a relationship away from the public eye, Florence Pugh (26) andZach Braff (47) broke up, the actress confirmed in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine. “We tried to get through this breakup without the world knowing because it was a relationship that everyone has an opinion on.”
Pio, who revealed that the two broke up earlier this year, added: “We felt that we would really have an advantage in not having a million people telling us how happy they are that we are not together. I automatically feel a suffocating lump in my throat when I talk about it.”
In an interview with the magazine, she also referred to the lack of privacy and the “evil” comments she received: “Every time I feel that this line has been crossed, whether it’s a paparazzi photographer who records private moments or even moments that are not real, or the gossip sites that encourage the public to share private moments of famous people walking down the street – I think it’s completely wrong. I don’t think it’s okay for them to write about every detail in the lives of famous people – just because they have such a job.”
When she said that everyone had an opinion on the relationship between the two, she was mainly referring to the age gap of 21 years, a gap that attracted a lot of attention – and not necessarily a positive one. “I think it bothers people because it’s not what they expected,” Pew said in an interview with the “Sunday Times” a year ago. “This is my life and I don’t do anything to please people or provide headlines or a good story.”
