Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council has demanded that the move to extend working hours and weekends in the UAE be extended to the private sector.

The Minister for Human Resource Development, Dr. S.K. Abdul Rahman Al Awar was asked by FNC member Sapreen Hassan Al Yamahi.

From January 1, government employees will have four and a half days of work and two and a half days of leave. The new weekend in the country was shaped by the magic of the global market. The new proposal is aimed at ensuring employment benefits for citizens working in the government and private sectors.

Some companies in the UAE have already adopted this model. The 2-day weekend leave is an increase of one hour during working hours. Most of the wires were shifted to weekends and Sundays. Some companies are off on Saturday afternoons.
