Football: in England, a goalkeeper urinates in the middle of a match and receives a red card

by time news

Connor Maseko has probably received the most unlikely red card in ages. While playing in a match counting for the first round of the FA Cup in England, the goalkeeper of Blackfield & Langley, a club playing in the 9th division, was sent off for urinating in the middle of the match against Shepton Mallet while he was staying a little more than a quarter of an hour to play. In the columns of The Athletic, Connor Maseko explained this unusual episode.

He says in particular that he “forgot” to go to the bathroom during half-time because he was “too involved in the team discussion”. The need becoming irrepressible in the second half, he then headed at full speed towards a bush around the 75th minute when the score was still 0-0.

“Inappropriate and offensive” behavior

Connor Maseko does not know it yet but it will be his last action of the match. “I said to myself that in the worst case, I might receive a yellow card for having lost time, explains the sanctioned doorman today. The red card was not even in the back of my mind, ”he says.

Yet this is precisely what awaits him on his return to the field. A red card received on the grounds of “inappropriate and offensive behavior” but incomprehensible to the goalkeeper. ” I thought : It’s not possible that he expelled me. He told me it was because there might be children around, but there weren’t, ”he says. Reduced to 10, his teammates finally managed to hold the draw until the end. As is FA Cup tradition, the match was then replayed and Blackfield & Langley lost 3-2.
