Football players Gor and Edgar Malakyan were released after the petition of the FFA president.
They did not want to give details of the incident with the law enforcement officers in Cascade, noting that everything will be clarified later. The brothers also thanked FFA and their supporters.
Today, FFA President Armen Melikbekyan addressed the competent officials, expressing his concern regarding the incident registered in the center of Yerevan on August 30, 2020, with the participation of brothers Edgar and Gor Malakyan and representatives of law enforcement agencies.
In his letter, the FFA president expected an impartial investigation of the case and asks the competent officials to discuss the possibility of applying other measures of restraint, not related to deprivation of liberty, to the Malakyan brothers.
The responsible officials of the Football Federation of Armenia expressed their willingness to act as a personal guarantee.
Gor Mikayelyan, the lawyer of the Malakyans, noted that considering the fact that they were deprived of their freedom on 30.08.2020. at 23:40 and 23:45, so the maximum term of their detention expires today at 23:40 and 23:45.
