SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Football Association used the lakhs of rupees received to ‘buy biryani’ for the growth of football. Some media in Kashmir reported that the anti-corruption department has started an investigation against the Football Association following the complaint of the fans. Officials diverted the amount given by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council for the growth of football in the state.

JKFA President Sameer Thakur, Treasurer Surinder Singh Bundy, Chief Executive S.A. A case was registered against Hameed and JKFA member Fayaz Ahmed. The investigation revealed that the money was stolen by using forged bills. Lakhs of rupees were allowed to the Football Association to organize tournaments like Khelo India and Mufti Memorial Gold Cup.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Rs 43,06,500 was paid by the Football Association to restaurants like Mughal Durbar and Polo View in Srinagar. The association’s position is that they bought biryani for this amount to eat for the team members. But the investigation found that none of the teams in Kashmir got biryani like this. The association has also given Rs.1,41,300 to Hindustan Photostat. The investigation found that a fake document was prepared for this too.
