President of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Rustami Emomali called on the United Nations to adopt a resolution in the General Assembly and officially declare World Football Day.
Currently, according to the decision of the United Nations, World Football Day is unofficially celebrated on December 10.
“I propose to recognize the role of football at the global level and officially declare the World Football Day by the United Nations by adopting a special resolution in the General Assembly,” stated the president of CAFA.
“football is an element of world culture, a sport that unites the whole world, the language of football is common, understandable and well known to everyone. In other words, from big cities filled with fans to the most remote villages of the world, people know and play football,” said Emomali.
CAFA, the Central Asian Football Association, was founded in 2014 and is one of the 5 regional associations of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
