As a result of the investigation and other judicial actions carried out by the investigative department of the Yerevan City Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee in the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts, a number of circumstances of the case of violence and hooliganism by the football players’ brothers against the police officers were revealed.
The examination revealed that in 2020 on August 30, around 11:00 p.m., the 26-year-old and 29-year-old football player brothers, together with a friend and several other people, were in one of the cafes adjacent to the “Cascade” store in Yerevan. During the specified period, two inspectors of the RA traffic police, while performing their duty, noticed a “Mercedes” car owned by a friend of the brothers, violating the stop-parking rules, and presented a demand to approach with a loudspeaker.
Informing the latter about the fact of administrative violation, they drew up a corresponding protocol. At that moment, the two brothers who were in an inebriated state approached them, demanded that the inspectors not hold their sportsman friend responsible, and when they refused, they deliberately obstructed the police officers from performing their official duties, dragged them, tore off the service badge and video recording device of one of the policemen, and the shoulder strap of the other.
The 26-year-old brother punched one of the policemen in the face and caused bodily injury.
At the same time, two investigators of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, who were near the cafe, having noticed the violence committed by the brothers against the representatives of the government, approached them and demanded to stop the illegal actions.
The latter, upset by their remarks, opposing the members of society, putting personal honor above the interests of the society and being obsessed with emphasizing their own advantages, for a long time deliberately violated the public order, disturbed the peace of the people in the nearby cafes and showed open disrespect towards the society, sounded insulted and abused the investigators, hitting them with hands and feet on different parts of their bodies, causing physical injuries.
Their actions were combined with resisting other police officers who were present at the time.
With the combination of sufficient evidence obtained, the football player brothers were charged with Article 316 (violence against a representative of the government) of the RA Criminal Code, part 1 and Article 258 (hooliganism), part 3, points 1 and 2. : A motion was filed with the court to choose their detention as a preventive measure.
The investigation is ongoing.
