Fans of the enchanting world of Oz, rejoice! Wicked: For Good, the second chapter of Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical, is soaring toward streaming platforms. The film, which earned $226 million globally upon its theatrical release, will be available to stream on Netflix this summer.

  • Wicked: For Good will debut on Peacock on March 20, 2026, complete with a sing-along version and bonus content.
  • Netflix will add the film to its U.S. library on July 20, 2026, for a ten-month run through May 2027.
  • Universal Pictures is exploring further expansions of the “Wicked” universe beyond the two-part adaptation.

The streaming rollout begins on Peacock on March 20, 2026, as revealed during the 2026 Super Bowl LX, and will include a sing-along version and exclusive bonus content. Four months later, on July 20, 2026, Netflix subscribers will gain access to the film, as confirmed by What’s on Netflix, under the terms of a licensing agreement between Universal Pictures and Netflix. Wicked: For Good will remain on Netflix for ten months, returning to Peacock in May 2027.

Beyond Elphaba and Glinda?

While Wicked: For Good concludes the current two-part cinematic adaptation, the story may not be over. Universal Pictures is already considering ways to expand the franchise, with the studio’s Chief Marketing Officer Michael Moses stating in November, “Because of Wicked’s success but also the fanship, we have almost a responsibility to figure out how we can continue in this universe.” He added, “Have we figured it out yet? No. But there are things underway.”

The potential for further stories is bolstered by the extensive source material. Wicked author Gregory Maguire has penned several novels in The Wicked Years series, beginning with the original Wicked in 1995 and continuing through 2011’s Out of Oz. A Glinda prequel, Galinda: A Charmed Childhood, is slated for release in 2026, following his recent prequel, Elphie: A Wicked Childhood, offering ample material for adaptation.

Composer Stephen Schwartz has indicated that the core story of Elphaba and Glinda feels “complete,” but acknowledges “there are other aspects that could be explored.” He and writer Winnie Holzman are developing a project set in Oz, described as an “adjunct” rather than a direct sequel. While a third installment featuring the original protagonists remains uncertain, the creative team seems open to venturing further into the fantastical world.

For those eager to revisit the magic, Wicked: For Good is currently available on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD, and can also be streamed at no extra cost with an Amazon Prime membership.
