Colorado Springs’ Ford Amphitheater Crowned Top West Coast Venue

Colorado Springs’ Ford Amphitheater has been named the Top West Coast Amphitheater by Billboard in its 2026 ranking of North America’s best concert venues. The relatively new venue, which debuted in fall 2024 with a performance by the pop-rock band OneRepublic, quickly established itself as a premier destination for live music.
How the Rankings Were Determined
The 28 venues featured in the Billboard list—which includes stadiums, arenas, amphitheaters, and smaller clubs across Canada, Mexico, and the United States—were judged “based on editorial insight and Billboard Boxscore performance data,” according to a statement. Data reported to Billboard Boxscore from Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025, encompassing gross revenue and attendance figures, informed the rankings.
Billboard described the list as “a guided tour of the places where sound, setting and community collide — the stages that turn concerts into memories and local music scenes into legends.”
A Boost from AEG Presents
The success of Ford Amphitheater is partly attributed to Denver-based promoter AEG Presents Rocky Mountains, which also books concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and other prominent Front Range venues. The promoter’s expertise and connections undoubtedly contributed to securing high-profile acts for the Colorado Springs venue.
Not Without Controversy
The recognition comes amidst a legal battle with some nearby residents. Last month, neighbors filed a lawsuit alleging excessive noise from the amphitheater disrupts their health and quality of life.
J.W. Roth, founder of VENU, the owner of Ford Amphitheater, stated last month that his company takes neighborhood concerns seriously and invested $3.5 million last summer in noise abatement measures, including testing stations and sound walls. Roth, a 62-year resident of Colorado Springs, believes the lawsuit is unfounded and stems from resistance from a small group of disgruntled locals.
Noise Regulations and the Permit
Ford Amphitheater operates under a Noise Hardship Permit from the city of Colorado Springs, allowing it to exceed the standard 50-55 decibel (dB) limit for outdoor sound in residential areas. Fifty dB is comparable to the sound of normal conversation or kitchen appliances. However, complaints allege that decibel levels measured at the venue range from 60 to 77 dB.
