Foreign Minister receives credentials of Swiss Ambassador to Baghdad »

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Wednesday, the receipt of the credentials of the Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Daniel Hon.

The ministry said in a statement received by the (INA): “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received a copy of the credentials of the Swiss Ambassador residing in Iraq, Daniel Hon.”
According to the statement, the Foreign Minister welcomed the “reopening of the Swiss embassy in the capital, Baghdad, after 33 years of closure,” stressing that “this step is important in the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Switzerland, and reflects the desire of both sides to consolidate cooperation in various fields.”
He pointed out that “reopening the Swiss embassy represents an important positive step in strengthening the path of diplomatic relations and opening new horizons for fruitful cooperation between the two countries, in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples. The minister affirmed the Iraqi government’s support for the success of the Swiss mission in Baghdad.”
For his part, Ambassador Hon expressed his thanks and appreciation to “Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein”, expressing “his country’s aspiration to strengthen relations with Iraq in various fields, in a way that enhances the common ties between the two friendly countries.”
