The police investigation started after the Task Review in October 2022 revealed that former operations manager and radiologist Adel Shalabi received SEK 200,000 in connection with the purchase of an X-ray machine from Canon.

After an 18-day long trial in the Attunda district court, all those charged in the case were sentenced today. Six people are sentenced for aggravated bribery. They are suppliers to the X-ray clinic where Adel Shalabi was operations manager.
– It is surprising that the prosecutor’s case wins full approval. I have already spoken to my principal and our plan is to appeal the verdict in all parts, says Hampus Wikerstål, Adel Shalabi’s defense lawyer.
The owner of a staffing company is sentenced to 1.5 years in prison. Five people are sentenced to suspended sentences and daily fines.
Two of the convicted are former managers of the large companies Canon Medical systems and Siemens Healthcare.
All the defendants denied the crime during the trial.
