Former Indian Cricket Captain Dattajirao Gaekwad Dies at 95: Oldest Living Indian Test Player

Former captain of the Indian cricket team Dattajirao Gaekwad was admitted to a hospital in Baroda, Gujarat, and was undergoing treatment for the past 12 days due to old age. In this condition, he died yesterday morning without treatment.

Dattaji Rao Gaikwat, father of former Indian opener and coach Anshuman Gaikwat, scored 350 runs in 11 Tests for India between 1952 and 1961. He was also the captain of the Indian team for the tour of England in 1959.

Dattajirao Gaekwad, 95, became the oldest living Indian to play Test cricket. Chennai-based Gopinath is now the oldest living Indian Test player with his death. He is 93 years and 349 days old.
