The supervisory body stressed that these publications should be viewed as a whole and not in isolation.since they all reflect statements that Quintero Calle was not allowed to make due to his elected position. In addition, the Public Prosecutor’s Office highlighted that the former mayor showed explicit support for the candidates of the Historic Pact coalition by displaying his vote and requesting verifications at specific polling stations.
Quintero Calle’s intervention in the 2022 presidential election was considered a violation of his restrictions as a public officialwhich prohibit participation in political activities in order to maintain institutional order and the impartiality of the authorities.
The Disciplinary Chamber reduced the initial classification of very serious intentional misconduct to serious misconduct committed with intent. Since Quintero Calle no longer holds the position, the six-month suspension will be converted in a fine of approximately $100 millionIn addition, the special disqualification will prevent him from holding any public office during the period of the sanction.
