Representatives of EDT Grupo Deportivo officially launched the 2024 edition of the Alumni Championship, an event that has become a sporting emblem in the province of Chimborazo.

EDT is a group of friends that has been formed to be able to crystallize the Alumni Championship in Riobamba.

During the press conference, details were given about the modality and participants of the tournament, which this year has the main support of the sports brand Elohim. The event will have the participation of 16 teams representing the emblematic schools of Riobamba. The teams, made up of alumni, will seek to relive those years of friendship and the pride of wearing the colors of their institutions. On the other hand, the super 40 category will have the participation of 10 teams. During the press conference, Diego Criollo, provincial manager of Elohim, expressed the brand’s commitment to sports and highlighted the importance of supporting initiatives that promote physical activity and strengthen community ties through soccer. The collaboration with the Alumni Championship is part of Elohim’s vision in supporting events that positively impact society. Edgar Torres, main promoter of the championship, highlighted the importance of the alliance with Elohim for the continued growth of the tournament. Over the years, the Alumni Championship has brought together more than 400 athletes, who return to the fields to represent their schools. The Chimborazo Sports Federation also joined in with its contribution for the inaugural event that will take place at the Fernando Guerrero Guerrero Olympic Stadium, on February 3. Given the reality of the country, protocols will be implemented in collaboration with the National Police and the Armed Forces. Among the participating schools are San Felipe, Salesianos, Pedro Vicente Maldonado, Carlos Cisneros, La Salle, Combatientes de Tapi, Juan de Velasco, Miguel Ángel León and Isabel de Godín. In addition, the Timoteo Machado de Guano stadium will be another of the venues that will host the football days of the 2024 edition, which is projected as a highly reputable event in the Chimborazo sports calendar.
