Fortnite Update 28.01: New Movement Animation System and Early Patch Notes (Image: EPIC GAMES)

The latest Fortnite update, 28.01, is set to bring a brand new movement animation system to the popular game. The update, which is scheduled for release on December 19, will also fix several bugs and implement gameplay tweaks.

The new movement animation system, which has been previewed at the start of the new season, promises to make the gameplay experience smoother and more fluid for players on all platforms. According to a recent blog post by Epic Games, Motion Matching and Procedural Layering will be featured, resulting in improved animations for actions such as transitioning from walking to running, changing directions, and using a weapon.

However, the update is not just focused on the new movement animation system. It will also address some key issues in the game including players getting stuck in build mode after rebooting, the absence of the Shuffle Loadout option in the new Locker UI, and the disconnection of lights on Omegarok’s second outfit.

Additionally, early patch notes for the Fortnite update 28.01 reveal that certain items such as Ranker’s Tags, Competitor’s Skyblades, and Competitor’s Time Brella may show an incorrect rank, and the activation schedule for Ranked Solo Zero Build is 1 hour behind of what is stated in the game.

In order to implement the new changes, Epic Games will hold a period of server downtime on December 19, starting at 9am GMT UK time, with matchmaking being disabled at around 8.30am GMT. The update will be available on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Android, and Nintendo Switch.

Once the update is complete, fans can look forward to a smoother and more detailed gaming experience in Fortnite Battle Royale.
