The Francouvertes, a cornerstone of Montreal’s vibrant francophone music scene, kicked off its 30th edition this evening, revealing the 21 artists and projects vying for recognition in the celebrated showcase competition. A discussion featuring representatives from Francouvertes, atuvu.ca, and Canal auditif unveiled the lineup, promising a diverse range of sounds throughout the coming weeks. This year’s Francouvertes competition aims to spotlight emerging talent within the province’s music industry.
The preliminary rounds of the competition will begin next Monday, March 9th, at the cabaret Lion d’Or, continuing for three weeks. Following the preliminary stages, three semi-finals are scheduled for April, culminating in the grand finale at Club Soda on May 11th, continuing a tradition for the event. Animation duties will be shared by Marc-André Mongrain, alongside Louis-Philippe Labrèche, Camille Dehaene, and Sami Rixhon, each bringing their unique style to the presentation of the participating artists.
This year, Ariane Roy and Stéphanie Boulay will serve as spokespeople for the showcase competition. The competition’s legacy was highlighted by a look back at the 2025 winners, Muhoza and their troupe, pictured by Jaime Antonio Luna.
First Week of Preliminary Rounds
The first evening, on Monday, March 9th, 2026, will feature Marie Neiges, Dauphins, and Olivier Faubert. Emmanuelle Querry is slated as the guest artist for the evening. The following night, Tuesday, March 10th, will showcase Colin Léo, Roxane Reddy, and Kèthe Magané, with Sensei H as the invited performer.
Mid-March Showcases
The competition continues on Monday, March 16th, with performances by Charlie Rivard, Chaude Chaleur, and Komēdza. Tuesday, March 17th, will feature Luan Larobina, TDH, and Spaghatt.
Later March Performances
The third week of preliminary rounds begins on Monday, March 23rd, with Bernadette, Mitaine, and Kris Kinokewin. Tuesday, March 24th, will present Banc d’Parc, Noëm, and Thalia Rosaura. The final preliminary evening, on Wednesday, March 25th, will showcase Irdens Exantus, Fyore, and De Lafe.
The Francouvertes have long been a launching pad for francophone artists in Quebec, and this year’s lineup continues that tradition.
