A unique opportunity for residents of Albuquerque to receive free legal advice in civil law and family law is set to take place this Friday, August 8, at the Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors Event Center. The event, known as Law-La-Palooza, offers consultations on a first-come, first-served basis, providing crucial access to legal guidance for those who may not otherwise be able to afford it.
Addressing a Critical Need for Legal Access
The annual Law-La-Palooza aims to bridge the gap in legal representation for individuals navigating complex legal challenges. According to organizers, the event will feature dedicated time slots for specific areas of law. Family law consultations will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, covering matters such as divorce, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, paternity, and kinship/guardianship.
Following a midday break, civil law consultations will be available from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This segment will address a wide range of issues, including landlord/tenant disputes, creditor/debtor concerns, wills/probate, powers of attorney, employment law, access to public benefits, and contract disputes.
Collaboration for Community Support
Law-La-Palooza is a collaborative effort between the Second Judicial District Court Pro Bono Committee and the New Mexico Legal Aid Volunteer Attorney Program. This partnership underscores a commitment to ensuring equitable access to justice within the Albuquerque metropolitan area. The event relies on the generous contributions of volunteer attorneys who dedicate their time to provide invaluable guidance to community members.
The Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors Event Center will serve as the central location for these vital consultations. Organizers emphasize the importance of arriving early, as appointments will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. This initiative represents a significant step towards empowering individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate the legal system effectively.
