A free, minimally invasive procedure is gaining traction among men in Davao City seeking permanent birth control.

What exactly is a no-scalpel vasectomy, and is it right for you? This procedure involves cutting and sealing the vas deferens-the tubes that carry sperm-without requiring incisions. It’s a permanent form of birth control, but unlike castration, it doesn’t affect testosterone production, sex drive, or other male characteristics.
Justice Mindanao Rasgo, NSV Coordinator, explained that the increased demand prompted a schedule change. “Gidugangan nato ang atoang schedule para macater ang kadaghan sa mga indibidwal nga nag-inquire (From conducting the service once a month, we made it twice every month to cater to the number of clients who are interested of availing the service),” Rasgo told the Kabataan, Pamilya ug Katalingban program on Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday.
the City Population Division offers free NSV services twice monthly at the Buhangin Vasectomy Center. Officials are encouraging Dabawenyos who are certain they do not wont more children to consider the option. However, Rasgo stressed the importance of thorough counseling before undergoing any family planning method.
“We strongly discourage walk-ins to allow ample time for our staff to provide comprehensive counseling,” Rasgo said. “Proper consultation ensures individuals receive the most appropriate service and avoid future regrets.”
