Research is important! And their recognition too. Therefore, on September 9th became the meanwhile 31st times the Ig Nobel Prizes awarded. The aim of the event is to honor research results that may never make it to the actual Nobel Prize, or whose practical use is not accessible to all readers. Ten prizes for research teams
As with the Nobel Prizes, the jury takes the award very seriously. Not only is the theoretical research approach important, the effects of research on our coexistence are also taken into account. This year, the Ig Nobel Prize in Physics went to researchers from Holland, Italy, Taiwan and the USA who investigated why pedestrians do not constantly collide with one another.

At the same time, a second team from Japan, Switzerland and Italy was awarded the Ig Nobel Prize for Kinetics, which researched why pedestrians sometimes collide.
The Ig Nobel Prize for Peace went to US researchers who unfortunately could not prove that the evolutionary use of beards is to ward off blows to the face.
Two awards for Germans
Two Ig Nobel Prizes went to German scientists this year. The Ig Nobel Prize for Chemistry, for example, went to a team that, together with researchers from Great Britain, New Zealand, Greece, Cyprus and Austria, investigated whether the plot of a film influences the composition of the exhaled air of viewers. The aim of the study was to use this metric to classify films by age. However, the researchers could only prove that their method is not suitable for this.

The Ig Nobel Prize for Medicine also went to a team in which two Germans worked. Together with scientists from Turkey and Great Britain, they investigated how sexual activity affects a nasal congestion. Your study result that sex clears your nose for up to 60 minutes can, without exaggeration, be described as a scientific breakthrough.
Research with utility
Less surprising, but no less relevant, is the study for which a team of scientists was awarded the Nobel Prize for Economics: They were able to prove that there is a direct connection between the level of state corruption and the Body mass index of government members there.
Practically everyone knows: Stunned white rhinos, like the one in the picture, should not be transported hanging by their feet. But what about the black rhinoceros?
Perhaps the most important finding in everyday life for many was awarded the Ig Nobel Prize for Transport. An international team of biologists found that it is better for stunned black rhinos to be transported hanging by their feet. In the service of science, the blood values and respiration of ten black rhinos were examined as part of a study – with the revolutionary result that it is actually worse for the animals to be transported in a lateral position.
