The town of Crest, in Drôme, played host to the French Karate-Nanbudo Cup on Saturday, January 31, a significant event for those practicing this martial art that blends technique, energy, and self-control.
Among competitors from across France, one club saw a particularly strong showing. Alain Lobry, in his very first national competition, delivered a remarkable performance, securing first place in kata with precision and fluidity that impressed the judges.
Lobry continued his success in ju randori, earning a second-place finish after a series of committed and controlled fights. This overall performance underscores dedicated training and consistent improvement.
While Lobry stood out, other members of the club also demonstrated dedication. Guillem Marquez, despite strong involvement and solid performances, did not reach the podium this time, but his combative spirit suggests a promising future.
The club also contributed to the event’s organization, with Tomas Marquez and Nathalie Izard serving as referees, ensuring smooth competition and promoting Nanbudo.
Beyond the individual results, the French Cup highlighted the team’s cohesion, determination, and sporting spirit, fostered by sensei Jean Luc Rubio.
The club extends congratulations to all participants, with special recognition to Alain Lobry, whose national debut will be a memorable moment for the Bompas club.
