French women’s team: De Almeida, Karchaoui and Toletti, injured, will miss the October matches

by time news

After Sakina Karchaoui and Sandie Toletti, Elisa De Almeida in turn gives up… In the single day of Monday, three Bleues declined the invitation to the gathering of the French women’s team which began in Clairefontaine on Monday, with in line of sight the double trip to Germany and Sweden, on October 7 and 11. Two matches which are part of the preparation for the World Cup scheduled for July and August 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.

Present at the Clairefontaine training center on Monday, the defender of the France team, De Almeida, 24, who suffers from a slight sprain in a knee, came to have her injury noted before being put back at the disposal of his club, PSG. Back in the France team after several months without having been called up by coach Corinne Deacon, De Almeida could have benefited from time in the center of central defense in the absence of Griedge Mbock, injured in the right knee at the beginning of September and unavailable for at least five months.

In his place, Thibaud, 24, several times called up to the French youth teams, could celebrate his first selection with Les Bleues.

The France team must also compose without Sakina Karchaoui and Sandie Toletti, injured in an ankle. Victim of a sprained ankle in the Champions League, Karchaoui, the left side of PSG, also came to Clairefontaine on Monday, to have his injury noted. As for Toletti, “affected in an ankle”, the Real Madrid midfielder is unable to hold her place for the upcoming double trip.

These two usual holders in the France team are replaced numerically by attacking midfielder Asseyi (West Ham) and striker Ouleymata Sarr (Paris FC). Sarr had initially not been called up by the coach due to an injury which occurred on September 10 in the league. The center-forward, however, resumed competition on Saturday by coming into play against Dijon (2-0 victory).

The recall of Asseyi had been rumored to him on Sunday by his club. At 28, Asseyi (55 caps, 12 goals) is a known face in the France team. His non-selection for Euro 2022 was the main surprise on the French side. The original Norman, who passed through Montpellier, Marseille and Bordeaux, joined West Ham this summer after the end of her contract at Bayern Munich, where she failed to win.
