Petrol and diesel prices have been slashed in the country. Petrol price has been reduced by Rs 9 50 paise per liter and diesel by Rs 7 per liter. The reduction was due to a reduction in excise duty by the central government. Excise duty on petrol will be reduced by Rs 8 and diesel by Rs 6. Prior to this, fuel prices were significantly reduced last November. The new decision comes after seeing the increase several times later. A subsidy of Rs 200 per LPG cylinder has been announced. The exemption is for those under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana scheme. The Union Finance Minister has said that nine crore consumers will benefit.
