El Zonte Beach Fumed to Combat Dengue Fever
To eradicate the mosquito that transmits dengue and other diseases, a fumigation campaign was conducted today in the coastal area of La Libertad, specifically on El Zonte beach. The campaign was spearheaded by institutions within the National Civil Protection System.
Fumigation brigades visited houses, businesses, public spaces, and tourist sites, treating them with insecticide to eliminate mosquitoes. This action aims to protect the health of visitors and residents alike.
Additionally, government teams inspect water tanks, barrels, and containers during house-to-house visits to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. Public education is also an important component of the strategy, as the active participation of the population is crucial for success in the fight against dengue.
El Salvador has been under an epidemiological alert for dengue since July. This prompted the government to double down on measures to prevent the spread of the disease and mitigate its impact on the population.
