Furious Pioneers end Innsbruck’s playoff dreams

by time news

The Pioneers Vorarlberg have done it!

For the first time in the club’s young history, they made it into the playoffs in the win2day ICE Hockey League. This was achieved in Game 2 of the pre-playoffs with a brilliant 5-2 home win over HC Innsbruck.

The Feldkirchen team won the best-of-three series 2-0 and are waiting for their playoff opponent, who will not be determined until Thursday.

The league MVP strikes immediately

The home side got off to a strong start and were able to strike after just a few seconds through league MVP Steven Owre (1st) – 1-0. However, the “Sharks” come back and, being outnumbered, manage to equalize through Halbert (5./SH).

Anyone who thinks the Pioneers will be irritated by this is wrong. A few minutes later, van Nes (12th) scored to make it 2-1 for Vorarlberg.

Innsbruck was knocked out by too many penalties in the second third

In the second section, the guests were completely beside themselves, receiving penalty after penalty, such as Halbert, who received a ten-minute disciplinary penalty after a dirty action against Nick Pastujov (32nd).

So it happened that the Pioneers made it 5-1 with further goals from Woger (26th/PP), Owre (28th) and Nick Pastujov (28th), thus finally burying the Tyroleans’ quarter-final hopes.

Although the guests can still ensure a cosmetic result through Halbert (52nd), in the end it is not enough to pose a threat to the Pioneers, which is why they have to say goodbye to their vacation early.

The Vorarlbergers, on the other hand, are in the playoffs for the first time in their second year and can look forward to at least four more games.
