FX Fighter Kurumi-chan Anime: Manga Gets TV Adaptation

Anime Adaptation Announced for “FX Fighter Kurumi-chan” Manga, Exploring the High-Stakes World of Forex Trading

A new anime series is set to immerse viewers in the volatile world of foreign exchange trading, based on the popular manga “FX Fighter Kurumi-chan” (FX Senshi Kurumi-chan). The adaptation, announced by Kadokawa on Monday, is slated for a 2026 debut and promises a blend of financial drama and compelling character narratives.

From Manga Pages to Animated Screens

The story centers on Kurumi Fukuka, a college student driven by a personal mission: to recoup the 20 million yen – approximately $126,000 USD – her late mother lost in the foreign exchange market. Believing a quick recovery is within reach, Kurumi dives headfirst into a realm where fortunes can shift in an instant. “She jumps into a world where things can turn from heaven to hell in an instant,” according to a company release.

The manga, created by storywriter Demunyan and artist Daisuki Tansan, first launched in Kadokawa’s Comic Flapper magazine in February 2021. The ninth volume is scheduled for release in Japan on January 22.

Creative Team Assembles for 2026 Premiere

Passion will be handling the animation production, with Yuki Ogawa – known for directing Ōya-san wa Shishunki!, Mieruko-chan, and Miru Tights – at the helm. Gentle, whose previous work includes Blue Celephant and Sentenced to Be a Hero, will serve as both the writer and series script supervisor.

Kazuyuki Ueda, the character designer with credits on BanG Dream! (TV 2), Love Flops, and Hinako Note, will bring the characters to life visually. The musical score will be composed by Takuro Iga, celebrated for his work on Oshi no Ko and Trillion Game. Always Suzuki will voice the protagonist, Kurumi Fukuga.

A High-Stakes Game of “FX Fighters”

The series promises to capture the intensity of the forex market, portraying the emotional rollercoaster of trading – the “unrealized losses and loss-cutting, a racing heart that won’t stop…” – alongside the ambition of Kurumi and her fellow “FX fighters.” The narrative explores the challenges of navigating this complex financial landscape, where success hinges on strategic buying, selling, and earning.

The adaptation aims to deliver a captivating story about survival and competition in a “raging world” of fluctuating charts and high-stakes decisions. It remains to be seen if Kurumi and her friends can overcome the inherent risks and achieve their financial goals.

Kadokawa’s Expanding Media Portfolio

This announcement comes as Kadokawa continues to expand its presence in the anime and manga industries. A disclosure accompanying the press release notes that Kadokawa World Entertainment (KWE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kadokawa Corporation, holds a majority stake in Anime News Network, LLC, and that multiple companies mentioned in the article are part of the broader Kadokawa Group. This interconnectedness highlights the company’s strategic investment in content creation and distribution.
