In an advance analysis of the upcoming presidential elections in Colombia, Juan Manuel Galán and Sergio Fajardo emerge as the main candidates according to a survey carried out by the National Consulting Center (CNC) between May 7 and 9, 2024. This measurement, Commissioned by Semana and based on the opinion of 1,030 people in the main cities of the country, it presents a panorama where the leaders of the New Liberalism and Citizen Commitment emerge as the favorites to succeed Gustavo Petro Urrego in the Casa de Nariño.

Juan Manuel Galán, director of the New Liberalism Party and member of a prominent political family, leads the survey with 13% support, closely followed by Sergio Fajardo, former governor of Antioquia and two-time presidential candidate, who obtained 12% support . This narrow difference reflects a competition that promises to be intense and that could be defined in a close fight between these two political contenders from the center.

In addition to Galán and Fajardo, the survey also considered other political leaders such as Claudia López, María Fernanda Cabal, Gustavo Bolívar, Francia Márquez, among others. However, he highlighted that 14% of those surveyed still do not have a clear preference for a particular candidate, which indicates an undefined terrain on the political spectrum.

These results reveal a clear interest on the part of those consulted in finding center options that can generate an environment of convergence at a time of marked political polarization in the country. With a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 3.4%, this survey reflects the opinions of men and women over 18 years of age in cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla and Bucaramanga.
