Paul Gallagher, Brother of Liam and Noel Gallagher, Charged with Rape and Multiple Sexual Offences

The older brother of Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher has been formally charged with a series of serious offenses, including rape, following a year-long investigation by Scotland Yard. The charges against Paul Gallagher cast a shadow over the ongoing success of his brothers’ band and raise significant legal and personal questions.

Paul Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, North London, was charged following an investigation that began in 2024. He is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 27.

Details of the Allegations

According to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police, Gallagher faces a total of eleven charges. These include one count of rape, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The alleged offenses reportedly took place between 2022 and 2024 and involve a single female victim. A police spokesman confirmed that the woman is currently receiving support from specially trained officers. “Paul Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm,” the statement read. “The offences are reported to have taken place between 2022 and 2024. The charges follow an investigation which commenced in 2024. A woman is being supported by specially trained officers.”

Background and Family Connection

Born a year before Noel and seven years before Liam, Paul Gallagher grew up alongside his famous brothers in Burnage, Manchester. While Liam and Noel rose to international stardom with Oasis, Paul remained outside the band’s spotlight, pursuing a career as a DJ and photographer. He currently resides in a flat purchased for him by Noel Gallagher in 2004.

Despite his lack of involvement with Oasis, the charges against Paul Gallagher inevitably draw attention to the family dynamic. Oasis is currently in the midst of a highly anticipated 2025 world tour, with upcoming performances scheduled for Wembley Stadium on Wednesday and Edinburgh next week. The band has not yet commented on the allegations.

Ongoing Legal Process

The legal proceedings against Paul Gallagher are now underway. His appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 27 will mark the beginning of a potentially lengthy and complex legal battle. The Metropolitan Police have assured the public that the investigation was thorough and that the victim is receiving the necessary support.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
