Loughrea, Co Galway – A young man in his late teens died early this morning following a single-vehicle collision, authorities have confirmed. The tragic incident has prompted a Garda appeal for facts.

The collision took place on the N65 at Moyleen,near Loughrea,at approximately 2:20 a.m. today,2026/01/19 13:29:18. The man, whose age has not been released, was a passenger in the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Gardaí are urging anyone who was traveling on the N65 between Loughrea and Ballinasloe, specifically in the Moyleen area, between 2:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. today, to come forward. The driver of the vehicle and two additional passengers were transported to University Hospital Galway for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening. Their conditions are not currently known.
The body of the deceased has been removed to Portiuncula university Hospital in Ballinasloe,where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place. Gardaí have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
