The video game fair in Cologne (Germany) celebrates its 2023 edition from August 23 to 27 of this year, promising the biggest show in the event’s history.

Gamescom, considered the largest video game fair in the world, began this Wednesday in Cologne, western Germany, with a record number of exhibitors and extension compared to previous years.

According to the organizers, this year 1,227 participants from 63 different countries are expected to exhibit their products -mostly videogames, but also various innovations in the computer field- in an area of ​​230,000 square meters.

Among them are companies in the sector such as Nintendo, Ubisoft, Netease or Tencent, but also streaming services such as Netflix, Disney + or Amazon Prime.

Fans will be able to try new and old games in the different areas of the fair, divided into a “retro area”, a “cosplay area” and an “event area”, among others, as well as participate in “e-games” tournaments. ”, in addition to other types of entertainment.

“I am pleased about the great interest in Germany as a gaming location and the large number of visitors from all over the world taking part in the industry’s most important gamescom 2023,” said German Economics Minister Robert Habeck.

In a statement, he stressed that the video game sector is a decisive branch, which drives innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence, simulations and virtual and augmented reality.

“The technologies of the future (of video games) penetrate other sectors and play a fundamental role, not only in technology transfer, but also for our computer experts of tomorrow,” Habeck stressed.

The fair will end on August 27.
