Mumbai: Former cricketer Roger Binny has been appointed as the successor of Sourav Ganguly as the head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Roger Binny, a native of Bengaluru, became the president after Sourav Ganguly had to step down as he became unpopular with the BJP leadership.

Roger Binny was appointed as the president at the BCCI Annual Conference in Mumbai. Meanwhile, BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s son Jai Shaha will continue as the BCCI secretary.

Roger Binny, currently president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association, was a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team. Roger Binny was the bowler who took the most wickets for India in the World Cup. Roger Binny has also worked as a member of the BCCI Selection Committee. A bowling all-rounder, Binny played 27 Tests and 72 ODIs for India. He took 47 wickets in Tests and 77 in ODIs.
