Garrison and Davis Join Forces to Disrupt Pro Cycling with SpeedStudio p/b Basso
A dynamic new partnership is set to shake up the professional cycling world as former US under-23 time trial national champion Michael Garrison teams up with former US junior road race winner Cole Davis for the 2026 season with the SpeedStudio p/b Basso team. The duo will compete across a diverse range of disciplines – road, mountain bike, and gravel – both domestically and internationally.
The alliance marks a significant step for garrison, who launched his self-reliant racing program,MG.
“I’m going to have a teammate,” Garrison enthusiastically shared with Cyclingnews, signaling a new chapter in his unconventional approach to professional cycling. “For the last two years, frankly, we hadn’t had the resources, that depth, to help me out.”
The connection with Davis runs deep, with the two riders having grown up racing together. Garrison emphasized Davis’s unique skillset, stating, “Cole is arguably one of the only, if not the only, rider that has abilities like I do, and wants to race everything.” Their shared history as teammates at Hagens Berman Axeon in 2020 and 2021, coupled with a period as roommates in Girona, sparked the initial idea for a future collaboration.
The pivotal moment for solidifying the partnership occurred at the US Gravel Nationals in Minnesota this past September, where Garrison finished second and davis third. “He was second at Bucks County, then won The Rad Dirt and was on the podium with me at Gravel Nationals,” Garrison recounted. “Knowing he wanted to do something different, it was a moment [at Gravel nationals] of building this dynamic duo.”
Over the past two seasons, Davis has demonstrated his versatility, securing wins at the Sea Otter Circuit Race, a stage at the Redlands Bicycle Classic, two races at SpeedWeek, and the Rad Dirt Fest. he also represented Team USA at the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships in the Netherlands and concluded his season alongside Garrison at Big Sugar Gravel in Arkansas.
The SpeedStudio p/b Basso program aims to “blend elite performance with creative production,” supported by Georgia-based SpeedStudio, a creative design shop specializing in athlete management, storytelling, and brand partnerships within a private membership community. Basso Bikes is the new presenting sponsor, with CEO Alessandro Basso noting that “SpeedStudio is rethinking what it means to be a professional cycling organization. They’re building something that merges culture and competition.”
Looking ahead to 2026, the team has aspiring goals. Davis will target wildcards for the Life Time grand Prix series, while Garrison will focus on European gravel events like Santa Vall and The Traka.both riders are aiming to compete at VIA Crit in London and ZuriCrit in Zurich, alongside key events such as tulsa Tough, USPro Road Nationals, and Big Sugar Gravel.
Garrison envisions a unique approach to their racing strategy. “We’re planning something super ambitious for next year. Cole and I both come from a team culture, and we didn’t have the most conventional pathway at all. So through this program, we want him to also have choices, like semi-privateers.” He outlined a plan for prioritizing Davis at certain events, such as Sea Otter, while taking on a supporting role himself.”At Sea Otter, we will focus more for him, then I can play more of a B roll. We’re gonna go from Sea Otter to Athens Twilight, there’s 48 hours in between. We want to win both.We want to blow the doors off the world.”
SpeedStudio’s private membership, currently boasting around 50 members and based in Atlanta’s Inman Park, will continue to be a central component of the team’s identity. Garrison, a resident of nearby Decatur, plans to remain actively involved in member experiences, including indoor events and outdoor rides in the north Georgia mountains.
