Alpine limited the damage for the first Grand Prix of the season. Pierre Gasly finished in the points, unlike Esteban Ocon who did not finish the race.
Pierre Gasly (FRA / Alpine), 9th in the Bahrain GP: “I’m happy with today’s race and it’s a great way to mark my debut with Alpine. After qualifying yesterday we were all disappointed because we had no intention of achieving this result, so I congratulate the whole team for their hard work for the race. It was a challenge to score points today, but we were confident in the performance of our car and we knew we had a chance to score those points with the right strategy. We have to keep working hard, we have a good base and it’s important that we build on that. I know there’s a lot more to come from us».
Esteban Ocon (FRA / Alpine), retired at the Bahrain GP: “It wasn’t our day today, we’re usually pretty good at those operational things – pit stops, stopping in the right place – those are things we put a lot of effort into and it all went wrong today today. This has never happened in the past (…) we will analyze and come back stronger. We were there to score today, it’s a missed opportunity, but that’s how it is».
