Gastronomic family getaway in Thonon-les-Bains

And Bam ! Thonon-les-Bains will put on its gourmet apron to welcome the second edition of Toques in Chablais.

“The idea is to popularize the kitchen and that people take a lot of pleasure especially with family, between friends around these moments of gastronomy”, launches from the outset the director of the tourist office, Julie Legros. And to recall the richness of the terroir of Thonon-les-Bains, which is located between Lake Geneva, the Jura, the Pre-Alps and Switzerland. This is why the Savoyard Chablais capital has more than one trick up its sleeve. And treats us with products from fishing and mountain lands.

At the pinnacle of gastronomy, Thonon-les-Bains will be, thanks to the “Dinner in the sky®” concept. Raised by a crane, this platform-restaurant invites gourmets around a table perched in the sky!

“The participants will buckle up, fly through the air in a basket and once at the top, the chef has 5 hotplates, ovens and he will cook in front of them, and make them a gourmet meal, while sharing his know how.”

Perched 100 meters above Lake Geneva, from the Parc du Belvédère and at brunch, lunch, snack, aperitif or dinner time, you can taste the cuisine of great starred chefs from Haute-Savoie , including Emmanuel Renaut, Yoann Conte and Jérôme Mamet, with prices ranging from 65 to 265 euros.

Cooking workshops are offered to gourmets in short pants, during the festival

Children are not the last foodies! Little chef workshops for 6-14 year olds are offered, notably with pastry chef Pierrick Challamel.

“All of these chefs are going to teach kids how to cook, from making a bar of chocolate to a full afternoon tea,” continues the organizer of the demonstration.

After learning how to turn the meringue device and poach creamy chocolate, juniors can also participate in an Escape game (8 euros/pers, registration on spirit-game.com). On the menu, a duel in the kitchen!

“Two teams of 8 people will compete and execute the best recipe with obviously the missing ingredients.”

“This time, we will take a route that starts at the port of Rives to connect with the fishermen, and then we will go up the small hilly and winding street of Thonon-les-Bains to arrive in the city center, and there, the traders, restaurateurs, food artisans will do tastings along the way, and so we can discover the roots of Thonon on the gastronomic side.

After the Zythologie workshop, where beer is brewed, why not attend the Chablais de La Rissole world championship! Amateur chefs compete to cook this small traditional turnover, stuffed with pear.
