Gavaskar says the only weakness of the current Indian team is that the next two World Cups will come to India – NEWS 360 – SPORTS

Mumbai: The recent performance of the Indian team in the ICC tournaments has been disappointing. It is a matter of serious concern that under Kohli’s captaincy, India have not won a single ICC tournament. One of the main reasons for Kohli’s captaincy was his poor performance in the ICC tournaments.

Former India captain and commentator Sunil Gavaskar has said that despite Rohit Sharma taking over the captaincy of the ODI and T20 teams in place of Kohli, India still have a big weakness. Gavaskar was a member of the team that won India’s first World Cup in 1983.

According to Gavaskar, one of the major factors behind India’s lack of players in the all-rounders’ squad is the lack of players. Gavaskar said that when India won the World Cup in 1983, 2007 and 2011, the strength of the team was the players who could bowl and bat equally. Gavaskar added that in the 1983 English climate, there were players on the team who could take wickets whether the ball was swinging or not. The former India captain said that the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 and the ODI World Cup in India in 2023 could be easily won if the all-rounders’ category is taken into consideration.

Currently, Hardik Pandya is the only all-rounder in the squad. But Hardick has been sidelined for a long time due to injury. It is also doubtful how much he will be able to play in the old excellence when he returns. Hardik’s own brothers Krunal Pandya, Shardul Thakur and Venkatesh Iyer are leading the other all – rounders. But the inability of many of them to find a permanent place on the team is a big problem.
