Thiruvananthapuram: Defendant Praveen said that the sudden provocation that led to the murder was the release of pictures of the two together, including the beating at a church in the city. The police did not fully believe this. We will check if there is any other reason. The decision was taken to take the accused into custody and question him. According to police, Praveen had promised to marry Gayatri after the divorce, but was not ready for it. The plan was to continue this relationship in secret.
Gayatri was taken to a church in the city in February 2021 to be pacified and tied up. Gayatri kept a picture of it and pictures of the two together on her mobile phone. He had suggested that the pictures should not be released for any reason. Gayatri also kept the details of the tie a secret. Following the complaint of Praveen’s wife, the jewelery authorities shifted him to Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu. He was also advised to reach there by noon yesterday. Gayatri asked him to join her but Praveen refused.
He told the police that he had booked a room in a hotel in the city and called Gayatri to send her back. Gayatri, realizing that she was being cheated on, got into an argument with Praveen and circulated pictures on social media, including of Taliket, during the dispute. It is believed that Praveen Gayatri was killed with this. City Police Commissioner G Spurgeon Kumar visited the murder scene.
