SANTA CLARA, Calif. – San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle’s availability for this weekend’s game against the Chicago Bears is uncertain after he missed Wednesday’s practice due to an ankle injury.
Kittle sustained the injury during Monday night’s dominant 48-27 victory over the indianapolis Colts. Head coach Kyle Shanahan acknowledged that Kittle has “a chance” to play on Sunday night, but his participation hinges on his recovery throughout the week.
Kittle is a pivotal player for the 49ers, contributing significantly to both their running and passing attacks. The team’s rushing attack has demonstrably improved since his return from a five-game absence earlier in the season caused by a hamstring injury.
According to Sportradar, the 49ers boast a 144.6 passer rating when targeting Kittle this season. This figure would represent the highest passer rating for any player with at least 50 targets since Russell Wilson achieved a 158.3 rating when connecting with Tyler Lockett in 2018.
