Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said she would not pardon the detained former head of state Mikhail Saakashvili.

“All are one before the law. Many people ask whether President Saakashvili will have mercy, the answer is one, simple and final – no, never, ”said Ms. Zurabishvili at a briefing (quoted by TASS).

Earlier, she spoke about Saakashvili’s visit to his homeland in a written statement, noting that those who “replicate the theme” of his return destabilize the situation in the country.

Prosecutor Jarji Tsiklauri also said that the sentences against Saakashvili are not subject to appeal. “Mikheil Saakashvili was found guilty on the basis of the beating of Valery Gelashvili and the murder of Sandro Girgvliani by the verdicts of three courts. As a punishment, he was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of six years. The court decisions on these cases are final and not subject to appeal, ”he said.

Mikhail Saakashvili returned to Georgia from Ukraine the day before the municipal elections and was detained.
