The 20-year-old Indian badminton player defeated world number one Viktor Axelsen in the men’s singles semifinals of the current German Open badminton series. Lakshya Sen won the first and last sets 21-13, 12-21, 22-20.
Victor Axelsen of Denmark also won gold at the Tokyo Olympics. Lakshaya Sen, who has played with him five times, has recorded his first win. In the final, Thailand’s player Kunlavut Vitidsarn will face off. The match takes place today.
Lakshya Sen won bronze in the men’s singles at the World Championships in December 2021.
