Pattenzen • Marienburg in Lower Saxony is one of the most beautiful German castles. For the last king of Hanover, George V, this summer residence was built in the 19th century.

From the day of construction, it belonged to the Welf family. Since 2019, relatives have been arguing about the future of the castle. The problem is that its maintenance is expensive, and repairs require more than 27 million euros. They even wanted to sell Marienburg to the government of Lower Saxony, but changed their minds. As a result, the castle with all the attributes was transferred to a specially created fund. Now Prince Ernst August of Hanover demands the return of Marienburg and has filed a lawsuit against his own son Ernst August. The first meeting was scheduled for November 25th.

Ernst August, 38, Prince of Hanover, a representative of the House of Welfs, one of the oldest European dynasties of Frankish origin, in 2017 married a Russian-born designer from London, Ekaterina Malysheva.
