In Germany, train drivers are holding a 24-hour strike at the same time as Lufthansa flight attendants, who did not show up for work on Tuesday.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, the Associated Press reports this.

The railway strike was organized by the GDL trade union. From 02:00 local time (04:00 Moscow time) for 24 hours, GDL drivers of Deutsche Bahn passenger trains will not work.

The strike was announced at GDL on Sunday.

The union is demanding a reduction in working hours from 38 to 35 per week without a reduction in wages. Negotiations between Deutsche Bahn and GDL have been going on for several weeks. The mediators proposed reducing working hours to 36 by 2028, but the details of the agreement did not suit the union.

Since the start of negotiations, the GDL has already held five strikes, with the sixth taking place on Tuesday.

At the same time, Tuesday’s strike by railway workers coincided with a 19-hour strike by Lufthansa flight attendants on planes flying from Frankfurt. This strike runs from 04:00 to 23:00 (from 06:00 to 01:00 Moscow time).

The UFO trade union demands a 15% salary increase for flight attendants and one-time payments of 3 thousand euros per employee to compensate for inflation.

However, a similar strike by airline employees is planned for Wednesday in Munich. According to Lufthansa’s calculations, about 1 thousand flights will have to be canceled as a result of the workers’ actions.
