The German government is going to invest up to €20 billion in semiconductor production. Writes about it Bloomberg with reference to sources. This amount includes €10 billion already allocated by the German authorities to support the construction of the Intel plant in Magdeburg.
According to sources, in addition to this, the German government is going to provide €7 billion to other semiconductor manufacturers, including Taiwan’s TSMC and Germany’s Infineon. Another €3 billion is expected to be allocated to smaller projects in this area.
Germany, like many other countries, has recently been developing its own semiconductor production in order to reduce dependence on Asian manufacturers. In May, Germany’s Infineon announced plans to build a €5 billion semiconductor manufacturing plant in Dresden.
