The so-called Platform for the Aggrieved of Geroa has once again demonstrated this Saturday in the center of San Sebastián to demand that this EPSV (voluntary social welfare entity) allow all pensioners the option of redeeming their benefit not only in monthly income, but also in the form of capital, at one time. The march, which has brought together more than a hundred people, calls on the Basque Government to facilitate this modality and has criticized the plans of the regional Executive to consolidate the current situation by law.
The conveners of the demonstration have denounced that “Geroa does not let us rescue our money as we want. She obliges us to an income of about two hundred euros a month for about 25 years ». They regret that they have been “all their lives working so that now they come to us with this.” The EPSV statutes only allow retired workers to redeem the benefit provided if they do not exceed 45,120 accumulated euros, as stated in the statutes. Geroa is willing to analyze the situation at its next meeting, although the philosophy remains the same to differentiate this pension plan from the merely commercial plans of the banks.
The aggrieved platform has been holding assemblies, mobilizations and demonstrations like today’s for several years, in which they have had the support of Elkarrekin Podemos.
