New Delhi: Congress leader’s remark that he should be ready to kill Modi if the constitution is to be protected is in controversy. The controversial remark was made by Raja Pateria, a senior Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh. He immediately explained that by killing he meant defeating Modi, but to no avail. Several BJP leaders have already come forward demanding the arrest of Pateriya.
Pateriya’s controversial statement was made while addressing Congress workers in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district. Modi will stop elections. The country will be divided on the basis of religion, caste and language. The lives of Dalits, tribals and minorities in the country are at stake. If the Constitution is to be protected, we should be ready to kill Modi” – this was Pateria’s statement. Then in the same speech, he explained that by killing, he meant defeating Modi and if the minorities were to be protected, Modi should be defeated in the elections. He added that he follows Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of non-violence.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that Paterria’s remarks indicated that today’s Congress is not Mahatma Gandhi’s Congress but Mussolini’s Italian Congress. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi also came forward saying that Raja Pateriya’s remark was an unforgivable offence.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s response was that the true feelings of the Congress have come out. “Narendra Modi’s place is in the hearts of the people. He is the idol of the entire nation. The people of the country have faith in him. Congress will not be able to face the Prime Minister in the elections. A Congress leader has called for his assassination. It is a statement born out of jealousy and intense hatred. Through this, the real face of Congress has come out. Such remarks are inexcusable. An FIR will be registered against Pateria. Legal action will be taken.” He said. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Pateriya and started investigation.
