Kollam: The youth who was arrested in connection with the death of a Plus Two student due to the mental disorder of being tortured by pretending to be in love has sexually abused many girls, the police said. A police team led by Inspector V. Shivakumar arrested Kannan (21) alias ‘Mayakannan’ at Pampuram Sandhya Bhawan near Kollam Paripally Medical College Hospital the other day. Kannan, an employee of Paripally Revathi Theatre, lured the Plus Two student by pretending to be in love.
The girl, who had gone for tuition, was taken to a resort in Varkala and tortured. The girl hanged herself because of this. Kannan is arrested on the basis of the investigation conducted on the basis of the girl writing some notes in the book etc. He was produced in court and remanded. Apart from Inspector V. Shivakumar, a police team led by SIs Asha V. Rekha, Suresh Kumar, Shaji, Biju and CPOs Anil, Prashant, Kannan, Dinesh, Praveen, Ratheesh and Madhu arrested the accused.
Police clarified that it was Mayakannan’s pastime to lure and cheat girls. The practice is to torture the girls by pretending to be in love and then withdrawing from the relationship immediately. Relationship with a girl is maximum three months. Kannan was using 3 expensive phones. The police seized the mobile phones from Kannan who was taken into custody following the death of the Plus Two student. The information of many girls was found during the inspection. The girls who are being seduced will be paid room rent and other things in the resort where they are taken. There have been indications of receiving money from many of them. But no one has complained about this. The suspect will be taken into custody and questioned.
