The hotels of the Girona regions they received 144,429 visitors last November3.7% more than last year, but 12.8% less than the same month in 2019, before the outbreak of the pandemic, according to data from the Hotel Tourism Situation of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
However, Girona’s hotel establishments will close in 2023, surpassing both last year’s figures and those recorded in 2019. Hotels in the demarcation have already accommodated up to 4,094,395 people in the first eleven months of the year. Awaiting the figures for this month of December to be able to make an annual assessment, the establishments in the Girona counties already exceed the data recorded at the end of 2022, when they accommodated 3,943,077 tourists, and those of 2019, when up to 4,023,739 travelers opted for hotels in the province.
Regarding the number of overnight stays, everything indicates that Girona’s hotels will also close the year with positive figures. Until November, they have added up to 12,110,432 overnight stays, 10.6% more than last year in the first eleven months of the year and 0.1% less than in the cumulative total of 2019 during the same period . With this figure, they already exceed the one registered at the end of 2022 (11,248,452), but at the moment they are below the total overnight stays of 2019 (12,404,950).
