People’s Artist passed away at the age of 79
Leading theater artist N. V. Gogol, who has the title of people, did not live up to her 80 years. A graduate of GITIS (course of I. Raevsky), she worked at the Gogol Theater for half a century and played her best roles here in performances by directors of different schools and aesthetics – Sergei Yashin, Kirill Serebrennikov.
Her heroines are passionate, strong, enthusiastic, giving themselves to the end of a woman’s love. Acting in tragic roles, Svetlana Mikhailovna also played comic roles with brilliance. Among her works are Marlene Dietrich (“Marleni”), Arkadina (“Trigorin’s Notebook” by T. Williams), Anna Petrovna (“Ivanov” by A. Chekhov), Ogudalova (“Dowry” by A. Ostrovsky), Mary Tyrone (“Long the day goes into the night” by Y. O’Neill) and others. In recent years, she played in the performances of the Gogol Center – Red Cross, Baroque, Little Tragedies, Martyr, Ordinary History.
The last time Bragarnik appeared on stage was more than two years ago. The serious illness with which Svetlana Mikhailovna struggled prevented her from continuing her work.
