GloRilla and Young Thug Resolve Dispute After Leaked Jail Call
GloRilla and Young Thug have reportedly mended fences following a controversial leaked phone call in which the rapper made disparaging remarks about her appearance. The two artists have confirmed they’ve spoken and are now “cool,” signaling a swift resolution to the public fallout.
The situation unfolded after audio surfaced in September of Young Thug criticizing GloRilla’s appearance during a jail call. He made several pointed comments, including remarks about her wig, head size, and mouth, and stated he had no interest in pursuing a relationship with her.
On Wednesday, December 3, the “TGIF” artist addressed the situation during an interview with Complex’s Jordan Rose. When asked if she and Thugger had spoken since his apology, GloRilla confirmed they had. “We talked,” she stated, adding that the conversation was surprisingly lighthearted. “It was a funny conversation. You know, I don’t take a lot of stuff too serious. I joke, especially if it ain’t no death or fighting matter.” She reiterated, “We talked after that. We cool, we cool.”
A potential musical collaboration between the two was also broached, with GloRilla responding with a cautious, “We’ll see about it,” hinting at possibilities for her upcoming sophomore album.
Following the leak, GloRilla responded to the situation on social media, tweeting that the same individual who made the critical comments was simultaneously attempting to engage with her romantically. “Mind you, [this is the] same n**ga blowing my phone up to ask what color my eyes [are],” she wrote. Young Thug subsequently issued an apology via X (formerly Twitter).
The artists also publicly moved past the incident at the 2025 MTV VMAs, with Sexyy Red posting a video of herself and GloRilla with the caption, “Breaking news: Young Thug and Brianna, aka Briskee, make up.” GloRilla playfully confirmed the reconciliation in the comments, stating, “I’m glad we could get past [this].” The “Brianna” reference stems from a previous exchange where Young Thug compared GloRilla to Rihanna, then amended his statement, saying she resembled “Brianna.”
As she navigates this public reconciliation, GloRilla is also focused on her music. On Friday, December 5, she is set to release two new singles: “Special” and “March.” These tracks will be her first solo releases since “Typa” dropped in June, following a period of high-profile collaborations with artists like Travis Scott (“SHYNE”), Halle (“know about me”), and Summer Walker (“Baller”).
The quick resolution between GloRilla and Young Thug demonstrates a willingness to move forward, prioritizing professional relationships and personal peace over lingering conflict.
