Thiruvananthapuram ∙ Perumbavoor MLA Eldos Kunnappilly, accused in the sexual harassment case, complained that he threatened the witness in the case while in hiding. Eldos Kunnappilly MLA sent a threatening message through WhatsApp to the friend of the complainant teacher while he was in hiding. The MLA’s message is that ‘Jesus will give a befitting reply to the witness and the family who have not committed any crime’.

Yesterday, the police filed a report in the Neyyatinkara Judicial First Class Magistrate’s Court accusing Eldos Kunnappilly of repeated harassment. Later, the district crime branch investigating the case also handed over a letter to Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamsir that a criminal case has been filed against Eldos. Speaker’s permission is not required to file case against MLA. The police said that it would be enough to inform them.
The Kovalam police had earlier registered a case against Eldos on charges of abducting a woman and beating her, insulting womanhood and trespassing. Later, when the crime branch, which took over the case, gave her statement on Wednesday, the woman also stated that the MLA had sexually assaulted her in several places. Based on this, section 376(2)(n) of the Code of Criminal Procedure was also included. It is said that he was tortured at the house in Perumbavoor, the resort in Kovalam, the flat in Kalamaseri and the woman’s house in Petta.
Meanwhile, as Eldos filed a bail application in the district court, the police may delay the arrest until the court’s verdict. The court will hear the bail plea tomorrow. The defendant’s allegation is that the woman is accused of twelve criminal cases and stole the phone of Eldos. The police tried to contact Eldos several times on the phone, but the phone has been switched off.
