Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Cho Sang-rae) held an ‘Exceptionally Good Day’ event to sympathize with residents on the 20th and had time to communicate with about 60 residents from two villages, including Sinheung Village, Okgwa-myeon.

‘Exceptionally Good Day’ is a communication program designed to realize a trustworthy administration by directly visiting village halls, discussing civil complaints, and listening to the voices of residents, in accordance with the policy of the 8th civilian elected military administration.

On this day, a resident of Shinheung Village said, “Unlike when I filed a complaint over the phone or in person, I felt like my frustration was relieved a little by meeting the mayor in person and talking about the village’s difficulties.”

Civil complaints received on-site will be reviewed by the relevant department and the results will be notified to residents individually.

Starting with this visit to Okgwa-myeon, Gokseong-gun plans to visit villages in all towns and villages every month to work harder to realize a ‘new Gokseong, hopeful people.’

Meanwhile, Gokseong-gun took the first step toward substantial promotion and transparent evaluation of pledge projects by holding the ‘8th Publicly Elected Pledge Implementation Evaluation Team Appointment Ceremony and Action Plan Reporting Session’ in the conference room on the second floor of the county office on the 23rd.

In order to expand citizen participation and ensure objectivity in the implementation of pledges, the pledge implementation evaluation group was publicly recruited in proportion to the population of each town and township for 10 days from November 20th to 29th. The evaluation team consisted of a total of 17 people through random drawing and appointment of additional experts.

At the appointment ceremony, member Seongjae Lee was elected as the head of the evaluation group and member Gyehyang Park was elected as the vice leader, and then the roles and duties of the evaluation group were shared. The evaluation team will play an important role in regularly checking and evaluating the implementation of pledges and providing opinions on changes to the pledge implementation plan.

At the plenary meeting, the heads of departments in charge of each pledge project presented action plans and comprehensively reviewed the feasibility of the pledges, plans to secure financial resources, and regional conditions through exchange of opinions with the evaluation team.

In this process, the opinions of the evaluation team were actively collected, and transparency in the implementation of pledges and citizen participation were further strengthened.

After deliberation and resolution by the pledge implementation evaluation team, the 8th public election pledge projects were finalized to include 40 projects in five major fields. The improvement opinions presented at the meeting will be reviewed by the relevant department for final revision and supplementation, and then a pledge action plan will be finalized by the end of December and made public through the website.

Gokseong County Mayor Cho Sang-rae said, “I am grateful to the evaluation team for participating in the process of realizing the promise with the residents.” He added, “We have made pledges in five major areas to achieve the goal of the 8th popularly elected military administration, ‘a new Gokseong, hopeful residents.’ “We will implement it thoroughly and give pride and hope to the residents,” he said.

Lee Seong-jae, head of the pledge implementation evaluation team, said, “As the head of the evaluation group, I feel a great sense of responsibility,” and added, “As a representative of the residents, I will carefully inspect and convey my opinions to ensure that the pledges of the 8th popular election are implemented as planned. “I will do my best together with the evaluation team members,” he pledged.
