Cairo – Gold prices in Egypt experienced a period of stabilization Thursday, March 19, 2026, following a significant drop the previous day. According to reports from the Egyptian market, 21-karat gold, the most traded variety, saw a decrease of 200 Egyptian pounds, coinciding with a global downturn in gold prices. This fluctuation comes after a period of substantial gains for the precious metal earlier this year, reaching unprecedented levels.
The price of 21-karat gold currently stands at 7,200 Egyptian pounds per gram, as of Thursday’s opening transactions, according to Al Masry Al Youm. This represents a correction after a surge in prices since the beginning of 2026. The recent dip is attributed to profit-taking by investors, a common occurrence after periods of rapid price increases.
